Day 19...I'm THANKFUL FOR YOU!

10 months ago I started up MalaforVets as a way to help raise awareness for Veterans with PTSD.  I too suffer from this ugly-faced disease.  Making mala beads helps calm and center me.  The focus and attention to detail allow me to escape my thoughts.  Little did I know that I would be creating powerful and meaningful mala beads for people not just in the US...but across the globe. (Australia, UK, Netherlands, Japan)

The Warrior Mala bead has been by far my most popular mala bead thanks to Save A Warrior and Mindful Yoga Therapy. I've made about 80 of these...and counting. (See Veterans Day Fundraiser....ALL NOVEMBER LONG!) I hope to be over 100 by the end of the year...Maybe you will help!  These mala beads protect the user from all negative emotions, and reduces energy over rage, resentment, bad tempers, and anger in self and from others. It helps one banish sorrow or depression. Grounds energy and attention into the present. Increases physical energy, confidence, assertiveness, appetite, awareness of feelings, emotional warmth, sociability, compassion, individuality, and memory. The wood beads are very grounding. Rudraksha balances the ying and yang and to help increase tranquility.  All qualities Warriors with or without PTSD need.

BUT...what I am most thankful for...is...YOU!  Everyone who has purchased a mala bead for themselves...sent one to a loved one as a gift...sponsored a Warrior...or shared a link I have posted.  THANK YOU!

To show my thanks, I want to give you a code for 20% off your next purchase.  Send me a picture of you and your mala beads and a short explanation of what your mala beads mean to you.  If you don't have any of my mala beads...check out the site.  I try to make five or so new mala beads each week.

Maurica M - Baltimore

I ordered my mala from Chris at one of the most tumultuous times in my life. Nearly everything in my life was changing and I had no idea where life was about to take me. I was extremely off balance, out of control and ungrounded. I wrote Chris what seemed like a small novel describing what was going on in my life…which made me sound like a crazy person…and asked him to create a mala to help align my energy so I could become more grounded and find my proper direction during this crazy time.
Chris could have very easily thrown something together and sent it to me, but instead, he asked questions and even sent me a chakra test in order to help him understand what my needs were so he could create a mala precisely for me.
He kept all of this info in mind and took it to heart while deciding what kind of mala he would make for me. I knew it would be fantastic, but I could never have imagined how amazing this personal piece of artwork would be!
Chris created the most beautiful chakra balancing mala for me! Its beauty however, was surpassed only by the energy and strength I felt from the first time I held it in my hands! I was absolutely struck with how incredibly perfect this mala was for me!
To call it jewelry or art is simply an understatement. Chris has an astounding gift for creating something so precisely fitted; so personal for someone he’s never even met. The energy manifested in this mala is simply inconceivable! It grounded me so completely that I found myself reaching for it unconsciously when I wasn’t wearing it. I wear it nearly every day, and for quite a while, it was in my hand every minute I slept. I could feel that something was missing if it wasn’t on my person.
Now, I’m not going to tell you that everything has been smooth sailing and that life immediately righted itself the moment it arrived. What I will tell you, is that the energy radiating from my mala worked with my own misaligned energy in peculiar ways! I had bizarre dreams and nightmares, negative energy from past injuries came creeping into my consciousness, and truths that I had been unable see stared back at me when I looked in the mirror. Things I hadn’t known hand been left unsettled as well as things I refused to face were thrust to the surface, giving me no choice but to deal with it so I could finally let it all go.
The difference in my life is outstanding! Chris may still think that I’m a crazy person, but I’m so much more aligned! The confusion and fog surrounding me has cleared and there have been so many amazing changes in my life! I not only know where I am in life, but I have a significantly clearer view of who I am. Life is certainly not perfect, but it now in focus!
This mala has been such a gift to me that I have purchased several more malas for friends and family, hoping to pass the gifts I have received through Chris on to the people I love.

Chris, there simply aren’t enough words to express my thanks. You have an amazing gift, a beautiful spirit, and gentle, creative hands that you graciously share with the rest of us through your mala beads!

Dear Chris,

I came to your website by way of learning about ptsd and veterans. As a child of the military I have always been moved by veterans.

Thanks for your service!

I ordered the beads I chose to help me through transition. I  trying to adopt healthier coping strategies while showing my kids new ways to handle things. I am a nurse and hope to combine my skills with my passion for helping others achieve wellness goals in the near future. Be well. We love your cause.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your email and yes...of course I will tell you my 'story'!

How I came to order mala beads from you....it started with a special journey I took beginning of September when I traveled from the Netherlands to South Dakota to work as a volunteer and photographer for a gentle round up of Wild Mustangs. These Wild Mustangs were rescued by LifeSavers Wild Horse Sanctuary and brought to Zuya Wild Horse Sanctuary on the Pine Ridge Reservation. The horses needed to be moved from one range to another and I went there to help out. Once at Zuya Wild Horse Sanctuary I met this incredible group of people. In this group of people were 3 veterans and Suzi Landolphi. They told me about the special program that Jake runs - Save a Warrior -  and since I do healing / coaching assisted by horses myself, Suzi and I clicked and talked about the enormous beneficial asset for healing that horses have. I looked Save a Warrior up on Facebook and was instantly hooked  and there was a posting from you about your MalaforVets.

My first string of Mala beads were given to me by one of my brothers. I wore that for a long time on my wrist until it fell apart about a month ago. So I was already looking for a new one, but did not just want to order one at a 'random' web store, where you have no idea if they are real or who makes them. And then I 'found' you. I strongly believe things happen for a reason and I instantly felt I should order the mala beads from you. I was so happy when I received them about two weeks ago. They are beautiful and have a good energy. I wear them on my wrist. Mala beads to me have this special meaning of having something with me that protects my spirit and soul. As working with people is great, sometimes it is tough too. I pick up  on and 'see / feel' a lot of energy from others, see and feel sometimes things even before the other person sees or feels things. The mala beads help me to stay grounded and focused on the other while being open and vulnerable at the same time. Thank YOU for doing this! I love the fact how you support Save a Warrior, how crafting them is healing to yourself and how you share your craft with us. So a big thank you for the beautiful mala beads. I hope to wear this string for a long, long time...

I applaud you....

Cheers,

Clara - The Netherlands

I first read about MalaforVets on elephantjournal.com, and was instantly drawn, for a few different reasons.  I love my veteran brother very much, and wish for him and all veterans to receive the support and care they deserve.

Reading about the yoga programs, and the gift of mala beads for the vets, I felt passionately that this was a huge, newer way of hopefully giving hope, healing and optimism to veterans, and I wanted to support Chris' mission.  I have personally struggled with certain emotions in the past, to the point of breathing very shallow to try to keep things bottled up inside, and yoga has significantly helped me with that - taking deeper breaths, staying present, allowing each feeling to be part of the experience.  The mala beads that I have received from MalaforVets serve as reminders to take those deeper breaths.  I will sometimes practice taking one deep breath per bead, working my way around the necklace or bracelet I am wearing that day. Sometimes, on a journey of healing, a talisman of sorts can offer that kind of comfort.  And I feel that Chris truly does impart his care for his fellow veterans, and fellow humans, into each piece he creates.
